How Do You Find The Right Coach?
Some say it's chemistry, yet it's so much more. A coaching relationship is intimate and powerful, so you’ll want a coach you can trust, both personally and professionally.
Some thoughts to consider:
- Matching your needs to their specialty
My specialty is a combination of adult career development and life coaching. I have a special interest in those returning to the workforce after a lapse or mid-career professionals wanting to find new meaning in their work. I believe that life issues (e.g., divorce, empty-nest, self confidence, financial concerns) are intertwined with career, so I got additional training as a life coach. Most, but not all, of my clients are addressing career issues. I am qualified to interpret several career-related assessments, such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Strong Interest Inventory. - Style
Clients say I listen to them in ways they’ve never been listened to before. I am not the type of coach who will “tell” you what to do. Everyone’s issues are unique and complex. You will find your own answers, and I will be there to provide support and guide you to your own insights. - Self-awareness
I continue to work on understanding my own issues, so I don’t confuse them with yours. - Specifics of the coaching
I coach clients over the phone or in person (in Minneapolis), whichever they prefer. Usually, clients receive two hours of coaching per month, with the option to email between sessions. - Practicing what they preach
I am passionate about my work and am living a life of my choice. Do I have all the answers figured out? No! But I’m alive and growing, I’m excited about my life, and I want the same for you. - Credentials
I am a professionally certified life coach, with a degree in psychology, a Master’s degree in business, and advanced studies in career development and counseling psychology. I’ve done work in the area of loss and healing for over 15 years, am a published writer, and I teach at a local university. Read more about Freda's background - References/word-of-mouth
No matter what coaches say about themselves, talk to their clients. I am happy to provide references and testimonials.
